Less than a month left to apply for the European Paper Recycling Award!
The fourth edition of the European Paper Recycling awards is well underway, with less than a month left before the application deadline (28 June 2013). We would like to remind you that the award is open to all organisations based in Europe: regional and national authorities, NGOs, associations but also schools, universities and companies.
If you think you have an innovative project or campaign (or if you have heard of one) that could challenge for the award, don’t wait any longer: get your efforts recognised! Register the project at http://www.paperforrecycling.eu/recycling-awards. The winner will also receive an original piece of paper artwork at the awards ceremony which will take place on 2 October at the European Parliament in Brussels. Travel costs to the ceremony will be covered for the winner.

ERPC Launches Call for Candidates for European Paper Recycling Award 2013
Paper recycling initiatives are invited to apply for the fourth European Paper Recycling Award. NGOs, educational institutes, local authorities and industry have implemented many innovative projects to enhance paper recycling all over Europe but these initiatives are generally not well known. By promoting these initiatives and raising their profile with an award the European Recovered Paper Council (ERPC) recognises these efforts and hopes to inspire others to copy good practices. The award will identify projects, initiatives and campaigns that contribute to Europe’s sustainability through activities supporting paper recycling.

Intergraf takes on ERPC chairmanship
The European Recovered Paper Council (ERPC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Beatrice Klose as next chairperson. Ms Klose is the Secretary General of Intergraf - the European Association representing print and digital communications, one of the member organisations of the ERPC. She started her ERPC chairmanship on 1 January 2013 and will keep the position until end 2014.

ERPC launches “Assessment of Printed Product Recyclability for Adhesives”
This ERPC (European Recovered Paper Council) document provides an assessment of the removability of adhesive applications of a printed paper product as one aspect of its recyclability. The assessment scheme deals with the fragmentation of adhesive applications and their removability through a laboratory screening process. It is applicable to all kinds of printed paper products containing any adhesive applications and serves as an evaluation for potential sticky problems at the paper machine and quality defects in the produced paper or board.

Five Years of Raising the Bar in Paper Recycling
European Paper Recycling in 2010 at 68.9%
The European paper recycling rate reached an impressive 68.9% as announced today by the ERPC (European Recovered Paper Council) in their final monitoring report. The report shows that since 2004 the recycling rate has increased by 10% points due in part to the excellent work of the ERPC.

Europe shows global leadership in recycling
The latest Monitoring report of the European Recovered Paper Council (ERPC) shows that Europe has achieved a world record level of paper recycling in 2009. The rate reached 72.2% which is again higher than the target set in its Commitment for 2010 of 66%. The total amount recycled in paper mills came to 58 million tonnes in 2009.

Invitation European Paper Recycling Awards
The European Recovered Paper Council announces the European Paper Recycling Awards to be presented by HRH Prince Laurent of Belgium on 29 September in the European Parliament. The Awards will be preceded by a Panel Discussion highlighting initiatives promoting sustainable responsibility. Afterwards Champagne will be served during the Jazz Media Lounge. A photography exhibition on paper recycling will also be open from 28 September to 2 October. Launch of the Recovered Paper Identification System
CEPI is proud to launch the European Recovered Paper Identification System at http://www.recoveredpaper-id.eu The site allows recovered paper suppliers to register for a unique supplier code that will then be added on to their recovered paper bales. This system will facilitate the identification of the supplier for bales in Europe in case of questions or problems.

Deinking Scorecard

Europe Global Leader in Paper Recycling
The European industries recycling paper and board today announced that they have met the ambitious target they set in 2000; to push the European paper recycling rate to 56% by the end of 2005. This makes Europe the global leader in paper recycling, and paper the most recycled material in Europe. The figure announced stands at 55.4%, well within the (+/-1.5% points) margin set.
